END OF NOTES TO THE CHORUS WINTER 2021
December 28, 2021
Congratulations and Happy Holidays!
I hope that everyone is having a wonderful time celebrating the holidays and that you are able to be with friends and family this season.
I want to thank you all so much for your tenacity pushing through this odd rehearsal season with masks, spacing, air-clearing, etcetera… into a wonderful concert this month! I had high hopes for the reception of this program, and it wouldn’t have worked without your energy and commitment to the music.
I had so much fun sharing this program with our audience, and I loved how you managed to get a laugh out of the audience every time we sang “My duck says ‘Quaa!” I appreciate you buying into the idea for this less-than-conventional Winter program, and I think it really paid off. The audience was large and engaged, neither of which happens without your efforts.
I’m so looking forward to our next program painting a picture of the US by recognizing the many peoples who built it. For those of you who were with us in the Spring of 2020, it’s largely the same program we were so eager to present when Covid first came to the states. It was a difficult call to cancel that concert, and I’ve heard from many of you that you are eager to finally present that program to the Green Valley audience! We’re updating the program slightly to paint an even clearer pastiche of the history of our nation, and I look forward to making that music with you!
I hope that all of you have a magnificent New Year, and I look forward to rehearsing with you again on January 3rd!
All the best,
W. Aaron Rice

Hello, Green Valley singers!
What a pleasure it was to finally work with you all in rehearsal again! I was so glad see you all again and to hear your voices for the first time in over a year!
I want to pass on some good news that I learned during rehearsal, and that is that the past year and a half have not stifled your abilities. You sound wonderful, and the balance is working incredibly well with the reduced numbers! I was encouraged by your sound this week, and you have already made wonderful progress toward the Winter Program. We have a few more pieces left to distribute, but we sang all or portions of most of what we plan to sing in just that one rehearsal. We have plenty to keep us busy, but I expect a concert full of confident singers who have had no trouble adapting to our new methods and have embraced the new repertoire with able voices and excellent musicality.
I hope that you found yourself as emboldened and excited as I was, because this is bound to be a wonderful concert this Winter. I look forward to finessing this music and presenting it with fervor to our audience in a couple of months!
I’ll see you next week!
W. Aaron Rice
